Alpaca Shearing Day

May 18 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm

Come learn about our Huacaya Alpacas and how their fleece is a valuable farmstead product, watch shearing day, & enjoy a complimentary cup of herbal brew. Alpaca yarns and artisan scarves available for sale in our Little Country Store plus baked goodies available for purchase in our Tiny herbal Tea Room! (PLEASE NOTE: Out of respect for the alpacas, this event is more like a golf tournament for onlookers – “quiet please” – and it is not really a comfortable experience for small children.) Bring an outdoor folding chair & dress for the weather of the day. PLEASE CALL TO REGISTER 803-868-5451

$5 per person

Meet the Alpacas & Knit an Alpaca Scarf

March 9 @ 2:00 pm 4:00 pm

6 Huacaya Alpaca boys of varied colors live at Black Walnut Farmstead. We shear them once a year, and have their fleece made into yarn for crafting items to sell in our Little Country Store here.

On Saturday March 9th, local knitters are encouraged to come meet the guys, feel some raw alpaca fleece plus processed roving and yarns … and learn to complete a fabulous alpaca scarf led by York County knitting teacher, Daria Carden.  The scarf pattern is pretty easy so anyone who can comfortably knit & purl can master it once they learn 4 stitches.

Excited to get your hands in some alpaca fiber?

Register now! March 9, 2024, 2-4pm followed by encouragement to participate in our Creativity Circle for the 3 following Saturdays 12-2pm.  Limited class size for individualized attention. $65 includes all materials, pattern & instruction plus follow-up guidance plus the alpaca connection & a free herbal brew in our Tiny herbal Tea Room. PLEASE CALL TO REGISTER 803-868-5451

$65 includes materials + more

Autumn Meditation Circle: Meditation in Nature

October 22, 2023 @ 9:30 am 11:00 am

Come sit in at the edge of the woods in a small circle of others who also are seeking stillness and space to breathe and to be. Each time you come to meditation you are a beginner – so whether you’ve “tried it” or not, this will be a new beginning for you … for all present. Guided by lifelong Nature lover and longtime meditator, Jan, who loves to dive headfirst into another new beginning! (In case of challenging weather conditions, we will move inside The Little Country Store; but otherwise, be prepared to take a short gentle walk to the circle.) Got questions? Please call!
